Plumbs
Do you think your current sofa has overstayed its welcome in your living room? Are you thinking of ditching it for a new one? Well, you could spend some good cash on that, or you could consider changing the coverings on your furniture. That’s it, you could consider reupholstering your furniture. We can give life to our ageing furniture by considering reupholstery, or we could just put a furniture cover on it. They are both capable of changing the visual appeal of the furniture, and that is what most people are worried about in the end. Of course, reupholstery is considered when there may be some minor repairs to be done to the interior of the furniture, but beyond that, they both serve the same purposes. So, if you are looking to get some reupholstery done on the furniture in your office or your home; or maybe you are looking for suitable furniture covers, then Plumbs might be able to help. About Plumbs
Plumbs began in 1953 as a home accessory-selling market stall in Lancashire run by founders, Tom and Bernice Plumb. In 1968, their son—Geoff—who had also joined them in the business placed a small advert in the papers, and this heralded the start of their mail-order business. Since then, Plumbs expanded its production line, and also went into selling beddings, and sofa covers. The 1980s brought a wide variety of fashion changes to the furniture market, and Plumbs had to modify their mail order service to a home consultancy service. Reupholstery was later added to the services offered by Plumbs in 2003.
Products, and Services of Plumbs
Plumbs maintains that they are capable of finding the right cover for any type of sofa, and this includes everything from dining chairs, futons, stools, and regular sofas. Along with their sofa cover, and re-upholstery service, Plumbs also offers a made-to-measure curtain service. This made-to-measure curtain service allows the customer to get a free home consultation, during which the experts from Plumbs would help the customer find the right curtain fabric for their home, and take detailed measurements of their window. After which a hand-tailored curtain that was created for that window would be delivered by a Plumbs consultant, and fixed on the window. Their sofa covering, and re-upholstery service is also purported to function in a like manner, with a free home visit from a consultant, after which the customer can make their choice from an inventory of more than 800 fabrics. After which, the consultant gives a price quote and takes detailed measurements of the furniture in question. For the re-upholstery service, the furniture would have to be taken to have the new fabric fixed on it before being delivered back to the customer; while the sofa cover service would only need the consultant to return with the completed cover to affix it to the furniture. Plumbs offers their service within the UK, and some areas of Ireland, with traditional re-upholstery orders, and sofa covers taking them at most 3 weeks to complete.

Curtains
We recently purchased a home with huge windows and none of my curtains would fit. So I checked online and found Plumbs. I emailed them and they called me to arrange for free measuring and quotation. They came within an hour and they were so bubbly and did a great job. All this was free! They gave me a quotation, showed me their curtain fabrics collection and they delivered them within a week for free and then fitted them for free. The curtains were beautiful and very classy and with great stitching. I love my curtains and I will be ordering some more curtains from them soon.
Curtains
If I could give PLUMBS zero stars, I would.
I ordered curtains with corded tracks for two windows in the spring of 2023. When delivered the cords were so coarse that, when pulled, they were cutting my hand. So they had to go back and new uncorded tracks were ordered. When delivered one of the tracks was too short so it had to go back. When the new track was delivered it was still too short. Then a “clever” customer advisor, instead of asking for a new track to be supplied, put a raw plug into the wall, and pinned the end of the curtain to the raw plug. That looked awful so I AGAIN complained to PLUMBS Headquarters and again a new track was ordered. When that was fitted the curtains were getting “stuck” in the middle of the track so that had to be sorted. And then, the track on the second window snapped in the middle. I am still waiting for this to be sorted.
And I paid £ 2400 for the two sets of curtains, that is £ 1200 for one window. All I can say is, steer clear of PLUMBS. The customer consultants are freelancers, the track fitters are contractors and the curtains are probably made in China, although I cannot be sure of that. Communications between consultants, Plumbs HQ and track fitters are non effective, left hand does not know what the right is doing and the customer suffers.
