The company serves residents and businesses with telephony and internet services. The company uses a Fibre To The Home (FTTH) network and according to them, unlike most network providers, their fibre doesn't just end at the cabinet. Instead, the fibre goes all the way to the client's home or business. They claim that their FTTH or "real fibre broadband" allows them to offer customers an average network speed of 30, 75, 200, 400 and 900Mbps. KCOM is privately owned by Macquarie Group - an Australian multinational company. In 2019, they won the Best Consumer Internet Service Provider at The ISPAs.

Products and Services of KCOM

KCOM has five broadband packages for their clients, all with an 18-months contract. The Standard Fibre Unlimited package costs £40/month with an average download speed of 30Mbps and an estimated 15Mbps upload speed. Next is the Superfast Unlimited which costs £42/month with an estimated 20Mbps upload speed and an average 75Mbps download speed. The Superfast Plus Unlimited plan has a 35Mbps estimated upload speed and a 200Mbps average download speed, it costs £46/month. The Ultrafast Unlimited is next with a 400Mbps average download speed and 35Mbps estimate upload speed, the package costs £50/month. The top package is the Gigafast Unlimited with a £79/month pricing, it has a 900Mbps average download speed and 50Mbps estimated upload speed. There are certain criteria clients have to meet to be eligible for KCOM's flex packages - Flex Call Only (£5.10/month), Flex Basic ADSL broadband & 3G (£9/month), Basic ADSL broadband & 8G (£10/month) and Lightstream Flex (£20/month). The Flex Basic ADSL broadband & 3G and Flex Basic ADSL broadband & 8G packages are only available for customers not in the fibre area. While the Lightstream Flex is only for customers in the fibre area. For Call packages, KCOM offers the following call packages - PAYG (£11.99/month), UK Landlines (£15.99/month), UK Landlines and Mobile (£19.99/month), All-inclusive (£26.99/month) and International (£19.99/month).

Subscribed to a Package

Very poor networking and customer services. I have been experiencing challenges with this networking company. In one instance, the Wi-Fi went out for a week and we ended up staying for a week without a phone and what’s worse, we could not reach out to the support team or the company’s technician to work on our issues. After we finally managed to reach out to them, then the WiFi started disconnecting from all devices now and then. I have been trying to reach out to customer support but the team is so busy to help out. The company is a complete waste of time. I’m changing to a new company!!

Broadband

The internet provided is absolutely shocking.
-There is no consistency with the speed
-If more than 4 people are on the internet it struggles
- It rarely achieves the download speed that is advertised.
- If you report said issues to KCOM, they will fix it then in no time it will be just as bad as before.

I would not recommend to anybody.
