Why to diet besides losing weight:
Most people will go on a diet so that they can loose weight. They look at pictures in the magazines or on Instagram, and wish that they had a body like that. And going on a diet seems like a great way to loose that weight. But today, I want to talk about why you should go on a diet, for reasons that have nothing to do with your weight.
Mental Health
Some people like to think of physical and mental health as two separate entities that have nothing to do with each other. But in reality, this could not be further from the way that things actually are.By taking care of your physical health, you're also be improving your mental health. Because by exercising properly, and eating healthy foods, your body will be able to perform all of it's functions better, and this includes the brain.
The human body is made up of the body and the mind, and to be healthy the two need to work together.
More Energy
Junk food will often contain high levels of sugar and salt. This might give you a short burst of energy, but in the long run, it will just cause a sugar crash, causing you to need to refill.
On the other hand, healthier foods tend to have slow burning energy, which takes longer to use up. By eating a healthy diet, you will be giving yourself energy which can last for much longer. This is ideal for people who work a lot, as it will allow you to focus on your work and not on being hungry.
Save Money
If you live off of takeaways and ready meals, the money can add up. And often quite significantly. Instead of paying for a takeaway, if you just cook and eat at home, the savings you can make are honestly incredible. And if you take it a step further and eat pulses instead of meat, this will be both healthier and cheaper. From personal experience, I can tell you that cooking for yourself is going to save you a lot of money. And if you are a bit tight for time, you can always batch cook so that you don't need to cook every night.
More Freedom
There are so many different foods and dishes out there. Most of us will like to remain within our comfort zone, and only eat the things that we're used to. But this is no way to live. You need to try some new foods, preferably ones that you can't even pronounce. Across the world, there are thousands of cultures which are far healthier than what we would usually eat. One thing they all have in common is that they cook themselves. And by learning about new ways of cooking, you can give yourself more freedom.
Better Skin
This next one is a little bit of vanity one. But there's nothing wrong with vanity as long as it's done with the right intention.
By getting enough of the nutrients and vitamins that your body needs, your skin is going to end up being clearer and smoother. People who eat a diet which consists of a lot of fruit and vegetables will usually have that special glow that you simply can't get by eating pizza and burgers all of the time. If you want to go on a diet so that you can loose weight, there's nothing wrong with that. But there is so much more to dieting than just being skinny.
Eating healthier will improve your mental health, improve your energy levels, save you money, give you more freedom, and give you better skin.
